Born and raised in Albuquerque, N.M., Matthew became interested in medicine while in high school, secondary to receiving wonderful care for a number of orthopedic injuries. He moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where he completed his BS and MS degrees at Colorado State University. After six years of training, coaching and rehabilitating endurance athletes, Matthew returned to school at Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz., where he completed his studies in 2010 to become a physician assistant. The majority of his work as a PA-C has been in orthopedics in Tucson, Ariz., Denver, Colo., and presently with OrthoAspen, while also spending a year practicing remote medicine on the islands of Shemya, Alaska and Midway Island in the Pacific. As of 2015, the Roaring Fork Valley is home for Matthew, and he is thrilled with the endless opportunities the seasons and landscape provide for outdoor play in his downtime.
