Born and raised in Southern California, Rachel completed her undergraduate education with a BS in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2009. Between undergrad and graduate school she worked for two years as a medical assistant at a local fertility office, where she found her love for medicine and working closely with patients. It was this experience that sparked her decision to pursue her MS degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif. She graduated from this program in 2014.
After graduation, she moved to Colorado for a position at a community health center, where she worked for one year. She then moved to Iowa City, Iowa to pursue further training and education at the University of Iowa Hospital in Cardiothoracic Surgery. She completed their 18-month fellowship in June 2018. Shortly after, she returned to Denver, Colo., and worked with an outpatient cardiology clinic. With a strong background in both medical and surgical care of patients, she was hired as the physician assistant hospitalist for OrthoAspen at Aspen Valley Hospital in January 2019.
When she is not working with patients, Rachel enjoys outdoor sports, concerts and the arts, cooking and baking, and spending time with her friends and family.
