Dr. Michael Archdeacon draws a crowd for first Grand Rounds of 2020

Dr. Michael Archdeacon, the Peter J. Stern Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, spoke to a standing-room only crowd at the Hotel Jerome on Friday, January 31.

As a leading specialist in difficult fracture repair with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, Dr. Archdeacon, who also serves as the Medical Director of Operative Services at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, described several of his alternative surgical techniques, such as repairing proximal femur fractures in the lateral position, which facilitates reduction and fixation, particularly in overweight patients. Prior to beginning his medical studies, Dr. Archdeacon received his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering; his understanding of medical devices, such as screws, plates, rods and wires from an engineer’s perspective added depth to his presentation.

During his residency at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, OrthoAspen’s fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow specialist, Dr. Namdar Kazemi was mentored by Dr. Archdeacon.
