OrthoAspen offers a full spectrum of orthopedic services, from prevention to diagnosis to treatment of most orthopedic conditions. In addition, our board-certified orthopedic surgeons are available 24/7 for emergency and urgent care for traumatic injuries. Each OrthoAspen physician sub-specializes in treating specific conditions, so they are able to offer a deep understanding of specific conditions and the highest expertise possible for treatment.
Areas of expertise include:
OrthoAspen’s team of experts is uniquely qualified to treat both emergent and non-emergent conditions. Often, the specialist who treats you in the ER will follow your progress all the way through recovery, providing a level of service rarely found in other orthopedic practices.
The road to recovery begins with diagnostic imaging, the results of which determine the best comprehensive course of action, whether that be conservative treatment or surgery. We offer in-office extremity MRI services in our Aspen clinic, designed with the patient in mind for convenience and comfort. The in-office MRI is an open system, providing a more relaxed and comfortable exam. Because it provides a transparent view into the human body without using x-rays or invasive techniques, MRI is an essential tool for physicians and patients.
Patients then have one team working throughout the course of that treatment and recovery, ensuring personalized, integrated care. No matter what age or level of activity, OrthoAspen provides world-class orthopedic care combined with the personal connection and individualized treatment that comes with a community hospital.
OrthoAspen at Aspen Valley Hospital is the first facility on the Western Slope to offer Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Partial and Total Knee replacement surgeries. The specialists at OrthoAspen have honed their expertise with the Mako technology since 2013, resulting in improved outcomes for partial and total knee replacement patients throughout the region.
The Mako application is designed to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis. The robotic-aided, precision technology allows Mako specialists Tomas Pevny, MD and Eleanor von Stade, MD to provide each patient with a personalized surgical experience, resulting in faster recovery and more mobility after surgery.
OrthoAspen maintains two locations in the Roaring Fork Valley ensuring convenient access to care for area residents and visitors alike.

OrthoAspen physicians are on call to treat trauma cases in the ER, and to see patients during normal business hours. A suite of support services are located in Aspen, including in-office diagnostic imaging, physical therapy coordination, laboratory and pharmacy.
Our Basalt office is conveniently located in the middle of the Roaring Fork Valley, along Highway 82 in the Midvalley Medical Center. Patients come from throughout the valley and beyond to our Basalt location because of its convenience and suite of services.
